Do you sometimes think or assume that you know it all, maybe because of your intellectual education or acquired wealth and material things and don’t need God in your life? In this age of increasing, explosive human knowledge in the sciences, medicine, social media, AI, etc and ability to make unimaginable things happen, there is a tendency for us to sometimes think and assume that we got it all together and that we are a God to ourselves! That would be a dangerous terrain to trend because no matter how much we human may think we know, there is yet more to know. And even in our current knowledge status, we still need the power more than our human physical mind can muster which may be termed spiritual. Denial of God by humans is described as foolishness and unwise by the Scriptures (Psalm 14:1).
In Psalm 32:8, there is a powerful word of God that ought to humble us thus,
“I (God) will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you”. That is divine revelation and needed spiritual inclination. We are a spiritual being and not only physical! There are situations in our lives that only divine intervention can resolve and settle for us. The problem of the heart, right and wrong, sin and forgiveness, peace, joy, contentment are some examples. Some fundamental questions of life need power outside of our human ability to adequately answer. Who am I? Where did I come from? What’s my purpose here on earth? The problem of death, end life and thereafter! How best do I relate with my fellow human beings? Intrapersonal and interpersonal issues of life are realms of daily life where we all need divine guidance.
In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, the word of God tells us, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work”. That’s where we get the truth and direction for good life, dynamics and satisfying relationships.
May we all be humbled to realize and admit that we need God and get a heart of wisdom.
Are you struggling with some issues of life inside your soul and in your relationships with fellow human beings as we speak? God and His word are always available for your benefit as you humbly engage your spiritual appetite as advised in today’s write up.
We have such struggles inside us which is called intrapersonal conflict, or in our dealings with one another called interpersonal relationship. At such a difficult and challenging time, we need power that is higher and greater than us to help us out for our peace and sanity in our inner man and relationships.
On another level, there is the problem of evil in our world that does confront us from time to time. How do we deal with it? The Bible says, “The heart of man is desperately wicked, and more deceitful than all else, who can understand it? The answer is given in the next verse finding solution in God knowledge. Verse 10, “I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to teach man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds”.
