In my Psychology study days in College, I learned about the concept of Jihad window that describes four types of human knowledge that really makes absolute sense to me. There is some knowledge that you know about your yourself that others don’t know. The other kind is what others know about you and you have no idea of what it is. The third type of knowledge is what neither you nor other human knows about you and the forth type is what only God knows about you and other humans. He knows it all about you inside your soul and outside like no one else. None of us can hide anything from God Christ because He is our Maker and Creator and we did not make or create ourselves.
At Psalm 139, the inspire word of God declares the omnipresence and omniscience of our powerful God thus, “O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know me when I sit down and when I rise up. You understand my thoughts from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and intimately acquainted with ALL my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O Lord, You know it ALL” (vv 1-4).
The Psalmist said it well for our human consumption, knowledge, wisdom and understanding. That calls for our humility that no matter what we may think we know about ourselves and others as well as material world, we don’t know it all, even in the field of science and social media and AI that we may pride ourselves in!
This knowledge thing reminds me of the day I graduated in my Doctorate degree at the University. It was a long enduring experience of hard work and study, day and night. That day of graduation following the writing of my dissertation and successfully defending it, I was humbled to realize and admit that there is still a lot more to know about and study about the concept of knowledge. I only just know and gone through a very tiny aspect of knowledge!
Perhaps some of us are going through some difficult stuff this morning and don’t know our way out, our God Christ knows exactly what you are going through and where you are, like no one else. And He has the power, knowledge and ability to see you through and deliver you to your joy and victory if only you’ll call on Him to help you through. Psalm 50:15 enjoins us call upon the Lord God on the day of trouble and He shall rescue us, and we will honor Him.
Let us accept our human limitations and trust God’s perfect and unlimited knowledge of ourselves and circumstances as well as His world to keep helping us through and through.
Some people and world leaders think that they are very powerful and pride themselves to know and do anything and no one can caution or stop them! They are proud and seemingly foolish forgetting that they are mere human beings and not God who is far more powerful over His creation and the world and circumstances. Absolutely, no human being is God who has allowed us to be wherever position we may be in and can take us down if we don’t reckon with Him and be humble and submissive to His authority and power!
We are encouraged to embrace our God Christ who made us, knows us in and out and has the ability for our rising up and belittling us and some day, we will all give the account of our stewardship here on earth to Him.
May God Himself grant us the grace of humility and wisdom to know and accept that we are mere human beings and not God whom we need to trust and depend on for our total wellbeing. The word of God says he who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
