Long time ago as per the Holy Bible, the inspired Prophet Isaiah said of God who called him, “You (God) will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You”. Hence he strongly advised the people of his days to whom he was directing the message, “Trust in the Lord forever, for in the Lord God we have everlasting Rock” ( 26:3-4). This message sent thousands of years ago, still resonates, applies and works powerfully and efficaciously to all who will by faith trust in the God Christ who is our eternal Rock of faithfulness, strength and steadfastness who lives forever.
The kind of world we are living in today seems chaotic, troubled and problematic. Deep inside our soul, many are wondering, looking and searching for peace that keeps eluding them. Hence, people try to find serenity wherever they think it can possibly be found. Maybe in endless acquisition of wealth and material things by all means, seeking popularism and being famous, seeking and pursuing human knowledge and scholarships, etc but all to no avail, vanity upon vanity like King Solomon said in his wisdom literature of biblical Ecclesiastes. While there may be some value and advantage in such pursuits, they do not ensure real peace inside our human soul.
Real authentic serene peace of mind is found in God Christ by faith in His accomplished work for the forgiveness of our sin. In John 14:1, 27, He said, “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me … Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, not let it be fearful”. As we trust Him for our salvation and life, He satisfies all our longings removing worries and anxieties. He gets our back through the power of His Holy Spirit who is our Comforter and Helper (John 14:26).
One caviet is that we should endeavor to live our life in line consistent with God’s will and purpose to please Him trusting His Holy Spirit as our Helper. Our peace is not dependent on our wealth, popularity, education or such status, but on our trusting faith living His righteousness, holiness and purity being the light of the world. He is our peace and will continually bestow it to our benefit and blessing.
Are you troubled and heavy hearted? Are you troubled in your soul? Tell it to Jesus. He is a friend that’s well known. You have no other friend or brother, Tell it to Jesus alone. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus invites, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light”.
May God Himself grant us the grace and humility to trust Jesus Christ, the Prince of peace with our soul and totality of our life. He said that He came to give us life and doing so more abundantly (John 10:10b). We are encouraged to surrender the lordship of our life to Jesus for real peace and joy in our soul. Reading the Bible, the word of God and committing our life in prayer ought to be our daily practice.
